ABOUT LEADERPRENEUR SUMMIT 2017

Nowadays, with the development of rapid technology and one of them is pioneered by Japan makes globalization cannot be avoided anymore. Every country is competing to create works that are useful not only for his country but also for the world, the younger generation would have a key role in this change, from generation X and now generation Y has a lively character and a different mindset in the application of technology but still have the same goal which is to create a better world.

Today’s generation are expected to be able to be the world’s best leader in 2025, for being so-called as the Golden Generation. Sitting in the class, reading books, and having good grades are no longer relevant in the era of globalization, which means it’s time to learn from the outside to see with their own eyes what had happened in the world that has developed so rapidly these days.

We need to be able to balance theory and practice, doing a lot of observation and comparative studies in order to have sufficient ability to welcome the brilliant future. Through these activities, it is expected that we can provide the opportunity for aspiring young leaders of the future to develop themselves through knowledge from comparative studies with different disciplines, namely technology, culture, social, and education which oriented from developed countries, one of them is Japan.

Tokyo is known as one of the largest cities in the world which also becomes one of the centers of the world economy. In addition, Tokyo is also the center of various other fields, such as technology, social, culture, and education. It is reflected in the presence of one of the world’s best universities, namely the University of Tokyo. In addition, there is also the largest museum in Japan, the Tokyo National Museum. In the social field, one of the 190 branch offices of UNICEF is, in Tokyo. There are also waste management and recycling factories that are built to address the problem of garbage in the city. This management system becomes one of the factors that led Tokyo to receive the title as one of the cleanest cities in the world.

30 young leaderpreneurs from Asian countries age 17-23 year which are selected through two competitive selection phases.

DAY 1

 

Day 1: Monday, 04 September 2017

Airport Assistance at Haneda Airport, Tokyo

Airport assistance is an assisting set-up from the committee for all delegates. The assistance will be from Haneda airport to Guest House. Assistance means that some of committees will be in airport to guide the participants to come in the check-In point by using public transportation.

Lodging

During the program, the lodging will be in Chuo, Tokyo.

Welcoming Dinner

In this session, participants will have dinner together. Also the participants have the chance to know each other and share experiences

DAY 2

 

Day 2: Tuesday, 05 September 2017

Explore Japan Education, Social, and Culture

Participants will visit museums, colleges and social institutions in Tokyo, Japan and will be given chance to understand the history of Japan, the existing social problems in the world, as well as the education system in Japan.

Clean Authority of Tokyo

Clean TOKYO Authority is an agency of the Tokyo city government that was built in the 23 area in the city of Tokyo to undertake further waste management and waste levels. During the visit, the participants will receive an explanation regarding the waste management process, and also directly view the waste management process through direct observation in the factory. Through this visit, it is expected that participants will gain knowledge on how the Japanese manage the waste and to grow a sense of concern for the environment, thus participants have the ability to support improved waste management system in their home country.

Tokyo National Museum

Tokyo National Museum is the oldest museum and is included in major museums in Japan. The museum was built in 1972. The museum contains more than 4000 artifacts from ancient Japan. Participants will be invited to tour the museum while receiving an explanation about the displayed artifacts from the staff of the museum. Through visit to this museum, it is expected that participants are able to learn and understand the historical development of the culture and science of Japan nation.

 Tokyo University

Tokyo_University

The University of Tokyo is the most prestigious universities in Japan and was established in 1877. During the visit, participants will surround 5 campuses of the University of Tokyo. In addition to observing the campus atmosphere, participants will also receive an explanation of Tokyo university campus life. During this visit, participants will be guided by college students directly. Through visits to this campus, participants are expected to understand and learn how the educational system in force in Japan, particularly the university level, so the education will be able to develop his home district.

DAY 3

 

Day 3: Wednesday, 06 September 2017

UNICEF

UNICEF is the world organization under the auspices of the United Nations in the field of protection of children's rights that include education, health, logistics and others. The organization has branches in 190 countries, one of which is located in Japan. During the visit, participants will watch a video about the state of children in the world today and the activities of UNICEF. Then participants will surround UNICEF's gallery while listening to an explanation of the volunteers who have ever participated in the UNICEF program. This visit is expected to grow a sense of empathy and compassion for the participants, especially to the world of children today, which then lead to the will to participate in the fight for children's rights and education development for children.

Leaderpreneur Summit

Leaderpreneur Summit is an international discussion forum which takes place at the end of the program as the peak of the program. In this forum, participants will be asked to present the results of observation and learning from the previous visits. It is hoped that this forum will generate ideas that contributes to the development of their respective countries of origin, in the field of technological, social, cultural and environmental.

Nurfarini is co-founder and CEO at myHarapan, a Foundation established in 2010 dedicated to helping youth achieve their true potential by empowering them to make positive social impact.  She was previously the General Manager for 1½ years before assuming her role as CEO. She was also with the Multimedia Development Corporation of Malaysia and headed the Project Management & IT services unit under the Technopreneurs Development Department. She has 17 years of start-up experience including training and coaching for SMEs and unemployed graduates.

Nurfarini graduated from the University of Warwick, UK, in Accounting and Finance. She is an Alumni of the INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Program in 2011 and has a Certificate in Teaching, Stamford College. In Feb 2015, she won the Social Innovation Leadership award by World CSR Congress, India. She is also member of the Social Return on Investment network, South East Asia Leadership Network and the Asian Venture Philanthropy network. In 2015, she was a nominee for the Malaysian Great Women of our Time award by the Women’s Weekly. She loves play and fun, and hopes to enable us to channel our inner child throughout our lives. She receives much help from her 3 children.

myHarapan or the Youth Trust Foundation, was established in August 2010 and has since then engaged over 25,000 Malaysian youth and funded over 120 various social initiatives. myHarapan is a social business advocate and uses it as its compass and also co-organized the Global Social Business Summit 2013, and launched their Social Venture/Business Fund to provide access to funding for start-up Youth-Driven Social Businesses and Entrepreneurs.

ZIKRY KHOLIL

Listed as Forbes 30 under 30 Asia in 2016 and voted as Malaysia’s Most Innovative Young Leaders Award of 2016, Zikry’s globe-trotting journey since birth makes him an extroverted, outspoken 3rd culture kid. He was missioned as a diplomat with ASEAN in Jakarta & was responsible in pushing the democratisation plan for the Myanmar elections in 2010. He worked and volunteered with multiple UN Agencies (UNHCR) and NGO’s in Jordan.

Upon returning to Malaysia, Zikry took the challenge in doing corporate sales with the reputable British Media Firm called GDS International where he grabbed the opportunity in being an International Sales Analyst and his team was responsible in bringing in USD $250,000 closing all sales through the phone during his 7 months stint at the company.

A former thought leader at Mindvalley, Zikry founded The Incitement Movement in 2011 with former colleague Daniel de Gruijter, aimed at promoting volunteerism and social impact amongst youths. 5 years laters Incitement is a thriving international community with establishments in over 41 countries, 100’s of events, 1000’s of volunteers, and despite its overarching social mission statement “spreading positivity” has managed to sustain a 400% year-on-year revenue growth, without having received a single dollar of funding.

Zikry is an ex Radio DJ & a former National Ice Hockey Player. Zikry is also highly active in giving motivational talks and seminars in different cities globally addressing to the social entrepreneurship, young professional and university communities worldwide. Zikry has spoken at multiple European Summits like PODIM and Leading Start:up Communities in Europe, AIESEC Conferences worldwide, TedX events, Impact Hub events and many more making him one of the sought-after speaker worldwide. Zikry is currently a member of Jurors for the United Nations World Summit Award since 2016. He also just got listed on the Top 100 World’s Visionary Leader by Real-Leaders Magazine this year.
